Porque el escritor madrileño, en su infatigable búsqueda de lo nuevo, sustentó su prosa sobre tramas algo anárquicas que disolvían la tradicional unidad de acción y presentaban una estructura fragmentada. Tal era el modelo de novela por el que apostaba: aquella que reflejaba lo arbitrario y azaroso de la vida, que a veces se greguerizaba potenciando su naturaleza poética, y que con la perspectiva de los años, la crítica ha sabido valorar como una muestra imprescindible en el vasto universo de la imaginación ramoniana.
